In this interview Marat talks about his educational background: about his early school years in Belorussia and the Suvorov Military Boarding School in Almaty. He also speaks about the importance of a strong belief in yourself and how he coped with obstacles.
"SINCE THEN, I NEVER GIVE UP"
At the age of 15, I wanted to leave the Suvorov School, because a free lifestyle attracted me, a lifestyle where you are not told to go somewhere and don't have to run in the mornings and so on. In addition, at that time it happened to be interesting as a secondary school: There were discos and girls were there.
I was tempted by all this and told my father about my wish to leave the school.
My father replied: ‘You can quit, but it would mean that you gave up, that you could not stay until the end’.
Since then I never give up in my life. I am very grateful to my father; he said things that influenced my development as a man at that time.
